What Now
What now that the world is ending
That the lover is lost
That the food is gone
That the drink dried up
That the last ember once kindled now snuffed
What now is
A roaring silence
An ear worm of white crackling noise
And a space left wide wide wide
And at the center me
Alone
Surrounded by light
Heavenly, circular, insanity
Driven to madness by
Separation and supposed familial deity
Breathe.
What now is
New
A new pair of eyes
A new set of hands
A new wrinkle or freckle or dot
What now is
A beginning to mask the termination
Of a confusion you did not ask for
Of a confusion you did not deserve
To take on
Together
Surrounded by light
Heavenly, circular, sanity
Driven to health by
Connection and discarding of idols
Breathe.
I would rather be alone.
